A relative of mine is in a care facility recovering from a stroke. I visited her yesterday. She spent a lot of time complaining about the food, the other residents, the people who care for her, her apartment and the care she’s receiving. My heart broke for her.
As I left, I met a woman outside on a handicapped scooter. I said hi to her. She smiled back and said, “I’m just out here enjoying the winter.”
“I love snow,” I said.
“Oh, so do I,” she said. A big grin brightened her face.
Now, that was someone who embraced her life circumstances and found blessings in little things.
