Seeds of Truth – Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you and watch over you.

Psalm 32:8, NIV

What are you learning from the Lord’s instruction? What is He teaching you? How is He showing you the way to go? How has His counsel changed you? How does He watch over you?

How can you use your insights in a how-to article? In a personal experience piece? In a devotional? In fiction? In poetry? How can you teach them to children through a children’s story?

In Memoriam

I was going to write about something completely different but the events of this past week changed my mind. My sister’s mother-in-law passed away and went to be with Jesus.

She lived with my sister and brother-in-law for the past several years. I got to know her better in that time than I did in the whole 30 years of my sister’s marriage. And, I learned even more about her at the memorial service.

She was a woman of deep faith—deeper than I imagined. She acknowledged that she was a flawed and forgiven human being, and she was ready to go to be with the Lord.

What Have You Learned From Those You Lost?

Think about the people you’ve lost. What have you learned from them? How did they help you get to know the Lord better? How did they challenge you? What did you learn from their mistakes?

How did they parent? How did they build their marriage? How did they serve others? What did you admire about them?

Think about their impact on your life. Then, use those lessons in your writing. Create poems out of your grief. Turn your insights into a devotional. Share your memories in a personal experience piece. Base a how-to article on their successes and failures. Develop a character in your fiction based on who they were.

Let their life live on through your writing.
